On Saturday, the Kao Kiao Police Sub-station Investigating Inspector Pol. Maj. Supagit Pai-ngaam was called to investigate an accident on the Route 7 Bypass Part 3, in Nongkaam. The mishap was between an 18 wheel truck and a workers’ bus loaded with many employees of a Japanese Factory in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate. All of the passengers were injured.

The Ao-u-dom Medical Team and the local rescue team were called, and at the scene, the front of the bus was wrecked and stuck underneath the back of the 18 wheel truck, driven by a 53 year-old Mr. Sutin Sinma, who was unharmed.

On the workers’ bus, 29 workers had sustained injuries. The worst damage was to a worker sitting at the front of the bus, Mr. Suriyan Pookboe, aged 32, whose both legs were crushed by the front part of the bus collapsing on him. It took the rescuers over 1 hour to extricate him.

All the workers stated that the bus driver was driving faster than usual, and overtook many vehicles. They all felt unsafe during the ride, which ended up slamming into the back of the 18 wheeler, injuring 29 people, and an 8 km traffic jam on the Route 7 Bypass. The bus driver was apprehended for legal proceedings.
