Car Free Day to be Held in Pattaya - Pattaya People

Pattaya Mayor Ittipol Khunplume was guest at Central Festival Pattaya Beach Mall on Monday morning, to attend the announcement of a very unique event to be held in Pattaya.   The Mayor announced that Pattaya is getting involved yet again in World Car Free Day, which will take place on Saturday, 15th September.  Although it is not compulsory for cars and trucks to be off the roads, and there is no official ban, people are asked to be considerate and take part in this worldwide environmental event by not taking unnecessary car journeys to help save petrol and carbon emissions.  Pattaya has been involved in this ‘green’ project since 2000 with the help of the Pattaya Bicycle Association. As the event falls on a very busy Saturday, hopefully people will take to bicycles and the streets of Pattaya will look like Amsterdam or Beijing where bicycles are one of the official modes of travel.
