Pattaya participated in the 1st Global Women’s Condom Day on Friday with an event held in the cities main adult entertainment area, Walking Street. Although globally the event was held on Wednesday, Pattaya’s main event was held on Friday and the main message was for women to make sure their male partners practice safe sex to ensure that sexually transmitted diseases which includes HIV/AIDS do not spread throughout the city. Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya and Dr Tawisak from UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) led a presentation on the importance of using condoms. Free condoms were given out on Walking Street and during an earlier event held at Pattaya City Hall where demonstrations on how to use a condom were held.
