New Committee Sets Up Rules for Jet Ski Operators - Pattaya People

A meeting took place at Pattaya City Hall on Thursday morning to discuss the topic of Jet Skis.  The discussion was held by a new committee set up to monitor Jet Skis and was chaired by Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing. The two hour meeting was attended by representatives from the Jet Ski Rental Business Operator Club.  Results of a recent survey were issued as to the number of operators in both Pattaya and Jomtien and also how many jet skis they had.   The aim of the committee was to set up rules and regulations and to monitor problems that have occurred with this beach business, involving scams and overcharging tourists renting the jet skis and getting involved in an accident.   From the survey, a total of 168 operators work at both Pattaya and Jomtien Beaches with 452 jet skis, plus 26 operators with 93 jet skis on Lan Island.  Rules were agreed upon regarding territories, prices, insurance concerns, and operational hours of business, which was agreed from morning until 6pm.  The resolution will be submitted to the Chonburi Governor for final approval before another meeting takes place to confirm these new rules and regulations.
