Huge Drug Production Operation uncovered by Police in East Pattaya

Posted on November 29, 2012

Following the arrest of three Iranians thought to be involved with a well-organized drug production facility in East Pattaya on Thursday Morning, Police conducted a further raid of a warehouse located close-by on Thursday afternoon which leads them to believe they have uncovered one of the largest ever foreign-operated illegal drug making operations ever seen in Thailand.

Officers from Banglamung Police and the Narcotics Suppression Bureau conducted a raid on a warehouse located in Soi Chayapornviti 12 in East Pattaya following information gained from the three Iranian suspects. Upon their arrival they were met by a security guard and the owner of the building, Khun Tiraboon aged 25, who were both unaware of what would be found by Police inside.

The locks on the front steel shutters were broken and officers entered to find many boxes full of imported furniture and 20 air compressors. Much of the furniture had been cut open, suggesting something had been concealed inside and was removed inside the warehouse as evidence of a white power was seen on the floor. Police also found the same Nail Polish Remover Liquid they found in the earlier raid of the house in Chockchai Village 7 in Soi Kao Noi. Also found in the warehouse were ceramic items which were found to be concealing a white power which is thought to be an ingredient used to produce narcotics.

The owner revealed the renter of the warehouse was a British National, originally from Iran, Mr. Manocheher Eskandari aged 40. He was paying 15,000 Baht rent per month and had rented the warehouse for over 1 year. His whereabouts is currently unknown. Khun Tiraboon further revealed how, at least twice a month, a truck would take items from the warehouse.

The investigation continues as Police fear they have only seen a small part of the operation so far.
