Disco doormen surrender to Police following Brit Drowning incident off Pattaya Bay

Posted on December 4, 2012

Three Security Guards working at the Marine Discotheque behind Walking Street where three British men were thought to have been involved in an altercation before being chased through Walking Street who were then seen jumping off the end of a restaurant extension into Pattaya Bay leading to the death of one of them, have handed themselves into Police who are currently investigating the incident.

On Sunday afternoon the three British men were seen to jump off the end of Tankay Seafood Restaurant into the sea. Mr. Patrick Lawrence Molloy aged 28 lost his life after he got into difficulties as he attempted to reach a banana boat situated 500 meters off the coast. The other two men whose names have been confirmed as Mr. James Louis Wilks aged 29 and Mr. Jerry Robson aged 30 survived after they were able to reach pleasure boats moored in the bay.

The three Security Guards who work at the Marine Hotel Discotheque (not the Marine 2 Discotheque as previously reported) which is open from the early hours of the morning until Midday were named as Khun Sompot aged 43, Khun Pramaert aged 23 and Khun Somkit aged 37 who described to Police how the three men were allegedly seen to touch a female in an inappropriate manner which angered the guards who approached the three men to ask them to stop.

It was mentioned that all three men were heavily intoxicated and joining the three Disco Guards was a Security Guard stationed in the Hotel Lobby, Khun Yonyut aged 50, who was allegedly kicked in the leg. At this point the confrontation became violent as the three men were suddenly outnumbered and ran out of the Hotel in the direction of Walking Street, followed by the four guards. There was no mention of the guards being armed even though Police suspect they were.

It was decided by Police to issue the three men with fines for public order offences after CCTV evidence was presented to Police which showed the incident inside the Disco. The fine relates to their admission they chased the men down to Walking Street thus causing a public disturbance. There was no accusation made against either of the men to suggest they were directly involved in the death of Mr. Molloy.

Although they have been released the three men may be called back to the Police Station depending on the progress of the investigation which is pointing towards a death by misadventure conclusion at this time.
