British Tourist Dies from Injuries after Car Crash - Pattaya People

Banglamung police was called out in the early hours of Thursday to investigate a car accident involving a drunk driver that had occurred near Mabprachan Lake.  At the scene, at a bend in the road, a Toyota Fortuner was found crashed into a large tree, with its driver trapped inside.  The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team was called for assistance and eventually the driver, identified as Mr. Raymond Christopher Donnell, aged 64 from England, was released, given first aid, and sent immediately to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.  However, his injuries were so bad that he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.  Eye witnesses stated that they saw the car being driven at extreme speed and he lost control at the bend in the road and crashed into the tree.  They went to help and tried to get Donnell out of the car, but to no avail.  A report was made and photos were taken at the scene as evidence for the investigation.  The British Embassy in Bangkok has been notified.
