As Thailand prepares for the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement to be implemented in 2015, Solar Air, which is a small Thai airline, is expanding to ensure it can offer flights to destinations within Thailand which have previously not been available from the airport along with flights to and from Siam Reap in Cambodia. The airline is joining forces with the Maxx Royal Tour Company who are based in South Pattaya to offer the flights from the airport which is located only 50kms from Pattaya. On Friday, Pattaya’s Mayor, Khun Itipon, joined representatives from the Pattaya-Utapao Airport, Solar Air and the Maxx Royal Tour Company to announce two new routes, one to Chumporn Province and the other to Siam Reap in Cambodia. Chumporn Province in the South of Thailand borders the southern tip of Burma. The airline uses 19-seater Dornier228 and 19-seater  EMB110-P2 planes and will offer flights 4 days a week to and from the two new destinations starting from 9th November. The Mayor commented how the 2015 ASEAN Free Trade Agreement will transform the Thai economy and is expected to produce a significant increase in domestic and international tourists coming to Pattaya.
