Lunar New Year at Lan-po Park, Naklua - Pattaya People

 

 

On  Saturday evening at Lan-po Park, Pattaya City Hall opened the Chinese New Year festival for Thai-Chinese people and foreign visitors, and thousands people participated in the event. The event was chaired by the Minister of Culture Son-tha-ya Khumplome,  Chonburi MP Por-ra-met Ngm-pi-chet, Mayor Ittipon Khunplome and City Councilors. The event offered respect to the Chinese culture of Emperor Jin-si. Jin-si became the first emperor of a unified China in 221 BC. He ruled until his death in 210 BC at the age of 49, and He undertook gigantic projects, including building and unifying various sections of the Great Wall of China, the now famous city-sized mausoleum guarded by the life-sized Terracotta Army, and a massive national road system, The celebration on Saturday and Sunday welcomed a new year for the Thai-Chinese people living in Pattaya,  and  maintained the good traditions of the Chinese people. The festivity also promoted tourism and stimulated business in Pattaya. There were many activities to enchan
t the visitors, such as Chinese Classical Dances, a mask-changing show, magic with fire, and lion and dragon dances. The highlight was the most beautiful Chinese girl contest of 2013, which awarded prizes of 58,000 Baht, a sash and a trophy from the Mayor of Pattaya.
