Drunk and Insulting Foreigner Attacked - Pattaya People

Early in the morning on Sunday, the Pattaya Police were notified of a dispute at the New Plaza Market, on Walking Street. Upon arriving, the police found an English man Mr. Jason Dean Connolly had been assaulted and beaten. Officers also discovered another victim, a Thai fellow, Khun Son-tha-ya Mee-khiew, aged 31, a motorcycle taxi driver. The Thai victim claimed to Police that he was riding the motorcycle behind a 4 door TOYOTA Vigo truck, and the foreign driver then stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road, causing a traffic jam. At this point the other drivers walked up to him and asked him to move his vehicle. He refused, and gave them the bird, and started to yell at them. Then his bird came home to roost; Mr. Jason was beaten, then the attackers fled the scene. The victim and the foreigner plus witnesses were taken to Police Station, and the victim claimed 5,000 Baht in compensation.  Mr. Connolly accepted the amount, and pled guilty. He confessed that he was drunk, and did not want to file charges against the attackers. Mr. Connolly was later charged with reckless driving and paid a fine, before being released.
