Suspected gamblers caught in front of Auto Center in North Pattaya

With apparently no fear of being seen by others, a group of 4 people were caught gambling outside of an auto center in North Pattaya early on Sunday Morning.

It was only a matter of time until someone would report the illegal event, which was taking place on the pavement for all to see. Police arrived, in front of the Giti Car Care Center in Naklua and arrested Khun Apichart aged 37, Khun Wasuporn aged 34, Khun Langsan aged 62 and Khun Wanongnapat aged 30.

Evidence including a small quantity of money, dice and an empty medicine box used to shuffle and then roll the dice, were confiscated. The four individuals were taken to Pattaya Police Station where Khun Apichart confessed to organizing the gambling event.
All were charged with the offence of gambling. We would like to remind you that Thailand is one of a handful of countries where gambling is illegal.

Armed robbery at Family Mart Store in North Pattaya

Early on Monday Morning an armed robbery took place at a Family Mart Convenience Store in the Northern outskirts of Pattaya where 4,000 Baht in cash and a 50 Baht mobile phone top-up card were stolen.

Police were called to the store by a very shaken Khun Anchalee aged 21 who was on duty when a man, wearing a safety helmet, entered the store and asked to purchase the top-up card. He then produced a gun and pointed it at Khun Anchalee who was forced to hand-over cash inside the register totaling 4,000 Baht.

The shop has good CCTV coverage which was analyzed by Police. Despite a good image of the suspects face on the camera covering the main counter area, he remains at-large for now.

Artists Compete at Big C North - Pattaya People

 

On Saturday, Central Center Pattaya, AKA Big C North, hosted a painting competition with the theme “Pattaya Beach Loves Dolphins” to win a trophy donated by HRH Princess Somsawalee. The contest was officially opened by Khun Ittipol Khunploemand Khun Pai-rot Boon-jan, the General Manager of the Center, who gave a report and welcoming speeches.

The purpose of the activity was to celebrate the 85the birthday of the King, as well as Thai Environment Day on 4 December. The royal words of the King request the attention of both government and private sectors to solve the environmental problems,  and indeed, this is held to be duty of everyone. The artwork will also make Pattaya more lively and beautiful.

The theme of dolphin was used because dolphins are a lucky symbol for tourism in Pattaya, and the contest also to encouraged the youngsters to imagine what the future may look like.

Six stolen bikes found by Police in North Pattaya thanks to GPS tracker

Six stolen bikes, one of which was recently taken from a Bike Rental Shop in Jomtien, were found by Police on Monday afternoon thanks to a GPS device fitted to one of the bikes. The bikes were found hidden in undergrowth close to the home of Pattaya’s Mayor in Soi 12 off the Naklua Road. Police Colonel Somnook, Banglamung Police Chief led the investigation and was joined by the owner of the Bike fitted with GPS, Khun Somjate aged 31, who worked with Police to track the bike. When officers arrived they found the other bikes which are presumed stolen. The total value of the stolen bikes is almost 500,000 Baht and the owners of the other five bikes are now being located and will be re-united with their vehicles. The Colonel urged Rental Shops and other bike owners to fit their bikes with GPS tracking devices if they can afford to do so, to ensure they can be easily recovered should they be stolen.

Local Government Officer fights for his life after shooting in-front of North Pattaya Pub

A Local Government Officer, who was set to become Deputy Mayor of Banglamung Municipality within the next 6 months was shot in the chest outside of a North Pattaya Pub and investigators are currently unsure if he was caught in crossfire or was the intended target. Police and rescue services were called to the front of the Pink Nightclub at the northern end of Pattaya Third Road in the early hours of Sunday to investigate the shooting which saw Khun Narathit aged 44, Secretary of the Banglamung Sub-District Administration, shot in the chest. He was rushed to the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently in a coma. The victim’s car was damaged during the shooting and Khun Narathit is thought to have been shot as he prepared to leave the club. Security Guards at the Pub confirmed an earlier altercation inside the venue involving two rival gangs and one of them threatened to return later in the night with guns. Khun Narathit, who also owned the Sisuwit Private School in Banglamung, was confirmed as not being involved in this altercation but was inside the Pub with friends. The entire altercation was caught-on-camera and Police were able to identify three men involved in the shooting, they were named as Khun

One dead, one injured and dog euthanized following North Pattaya road crash

A female pedestrian was killed, another was seriously injured and a dog was later put-to-sleep due to its injuries in an early morning road crash on the Sukhumvit Road in the northern outskirts of Pattaya on Saturday. Police and rescue services were called to the scene of the crash which is thought to have been caused by a motorbike coming out from a side road without looking. Khun Tanitpong aged 27, the driver of the Black Honda City was on his way back home with his girlfriend. Both were suspected by Police of being intoxicated. He claimed that he took evasive action to avoid the motorbike but was driving too fast and lost control of the vehicle which slammed into the two pedestrians who were thrown into an advertising board. Khun Doo aged 63 was killed and Khun Bunleu aged 54 sustained two broken legs and other more minor injuries. Police arrested the driver of the car who is still being held by Police pending further investigations.

German accused of burglary at North Pattaya restaurant


Police arrested a 48 year old German National in the early hours of Monday, accused of stealing 5 cartons of cigarettes worth 4,000 Baht. The alleged theft took place at Gulliver’s Pub & Restaurant at the Northern end of Pattaya Beach Road when the venue was closed.

The manager, Khun Banjarat aged 34, arrived later on Sunday morning to open the restaurant and saw that a burglary had taken place and only the cigarettes had been taken. She looked at CCTV images and spotted a foreign man breaking-in and stealing the items. Later on Sunday Night, she spotted the suspect, later named as Mr. Michael Ederer, walking past the Restaurant and called the Police who arrested him and took him to Pattaya Police Station where he confirmed he had lived in Pattaya for one year and had run out of money. He intended to sell the cigarettes and use the money to rebuild his life in Thailand. He is now behind bars on a charge of burglary and awaits a Court appearance.
