Suspected gamblers caught in front of Auto Center in North Pattaya

Posted on December 2, 2012

With apparently no fear of being seen by others, a group of 4 people were caught gambling outside of an auto center in North Pattaya early on Sunday Morning.

It was only a matter of time until someone would report the illegal event, which was taking place on the pavement for all to see. Police arrived, in front of the Giti Car Care Center in Naklua and arrested Khun Apichart aged 37, Khun Wasuporn aged 34, Khun Langsan aged 62 and Khun Wanongnapat aged 30.

Evidence including a small quantity of money, dice and an empty medicine box used to shuffle and then roll the dice, were confiscated. The four individuals were taken to Pattaya Police Station where Khun Apichart confessed to organizing the gambling event.
All were charged with the offence of gambling. We would like to remind you that Thailand is one of a handful of countries where gambling is illegal.

A 16 year old boy was one of a group of suspected drug users caught at a Pattaya Police Checkpoint located in South Pattaya in the early hours of Tuesday. The checkpoint was located at the entrance to Soi 15 off Soi Buakow and a total of nine men were stopped and subjected to a roadside drug test. These presumptive tests will be confirmed with a more detailed blood test which will be conducted at Banglamung Hospital later on Tuesday. The most serious case related to the 16 year old boy who was caught in possession of 10 Yabba Tablets and 4 Packets of Crystal Methamphetamine weighing 1.3g. Due to the quantity of drugs seized, the boy, who was only recently released from a Young Offenders Institute, was charged with the serious offence of class 1 drug distribution. It was determined the boy did not work as a motorbike taxi driver and only borrowed the jacket to avoid problems with Police. The plan did not work and he was later charged. He claimed to be selling drugs to people on Pattaya Beach and was introduced to drug dealing by a fellow inmate at the Institute during his stay there.  The case will now go to Court.

A foreigner, thought to be of Asian descent, was killed in a suspected hit-and-run road accident in Central Pattaya just after 4.30 on Sunday Morning. The accident occurred on Pattaya Second Road and resulted in the immediate death of the foreign man, thought to be aged between 35 and 40, who was presumably walking back to his Hotel, according to Police. At the time of the accident the road conditions were poor as heavy rain created poor visibility and surface water on the tarmac. The victim appears to have attempted to cross the road and had just left the sidewalk when he was struck by the offending vehicle. The extent of the victim’s injuries, including multiple broken bones and a skull fracture suggest to investigators this was a high impact collision. Although the collision itself was not seen, a nearby Security Guard working for a Hotel heard the impact and called the Police. Police were able to determine the vehicle, which failed to stop, was a Bangkok-licensed Black Toyota Fortuna as the front license plate and Toyota Badge from the front of the vehicle were left behind following the impact. Police are still trying to identify the victim who was wearing a distinctive 7-Eleven grey T-Shirt as he was carrying no identification documents on him and investigators are now looking for the offending driver who will face prosecution when caught.
